List of documents for opening an inheritance

To file an application for acceptance of inherited property, you must:

  1. Death certificate
  2. Certificate of cause of death of the deceased – if any
  3. Will (if any)
  4. Passport (with mandatory pasted-in photographs at 25, 45 years old), tax code of the heir
  5. Tax code (original or copy) of the deceased – if any
  6. Documents that confirm the family relationship of the deceased with the heir/confirmation of the order of inheritance: birth certificate, marriage certificate, court decision, which came into legal force
  7. Court decision to extend the deadline for accepting an inheritance (for heirs who missed the deadline for accepting an inheritance, i.e. more than half a year has passed since the date of death and the heir did not have time to submit an application to the notary office during this time. The exception is heirs who were registered with the deceased on the day of death. In this case, there is no need to extend the period for accepting the inheritance through the court.
  8. Court decision establishing the fact of living as one family (for heirs who lived more than 5 years before the date of death with the deceased. In the absence of heirs of other lines.)
  9. Death certificate of heirs (who died before the time of death of the testator after which the inheritance case is opened / or died after the death of the deceased, after which the inheritance case is opened, but did not have time to file an application for acceptance or refusal of the inheritance before the 6-month period
  10. Certificate from the housing maintenance organization / OSMD / village council (cooperative) indicating the information: where, from what year and until the date of death the deceased was registered at the address indicating the full name and family relationships of the persons who the deceased were registered at the same address at the time of death.
  11. Documents of the heir (pension certificate, certificate of disability of groups I, II, III, etc.)
  12. Documents for the property that belonged to the deceased
  13. Information about other heirs by law and/or by will (surname, first name, patronymic, date of birth, place of residence, family relations, means of communication)
