Probate is the process of transferring both rights and obligations (debts and liabilities) from the deceased to the heirs. Inheritance re-registration consists of several stages (phases):

  • Discovering the legacy. Acceptance or refusal to accept the inheritance (!!! Must be done within half a year from the date of the deceased's death by the heir's application to a private or public notary at the place of residence of the deceased on the day of death!)
  • Collection of a package of documents necessary for re-registration of the inheritance
  • Direct registration of the right to inheritance through a notary's office (if the heirs have property documents in their hands) or through the court (if the heirs do not have inheritance documents for one reason or another or if there are disputes among the heirs for other reasons stipulated by the legislation of Ukraine)
